FiiO spent four years developing the FH15, using objective data analysis and subjective listening tests to create it. The 10mm dynamic driver uses a carbon-based diaphragm. It’s built of thousands of stacks of woven cross-fiber carbon filaments. These light and strong filaments move together as one from the edge of the driver to the middle, creating a tight, rigid, and super-reactive unit.

FiiO split the frequency range between the 10mm dynamic driver and three balanced armature drivers. By splitting the frequencies between four drivers, the FH15 can reproduce music that sounds faster, more detailed, and with better imaging.

Using multiple drivers presents a major problem to headphone designers. When multiple drivers “overlap” (or play the same frequencies), they emphasize those frequencies at the expense of others. FiiO overcame this problem by using a low-pass filter on the 10mm driver that prevents it from playing mid-range and high-range frequencies. The result is a total lack of muddiness.

In addition, the FH15 uses a specially designed resonator to enhance the volume of sounds between 1kHz and 4kHz, resulting in denser and more realistic vocals and instruments. The resonator is connected to a thin opening that eliminates unwanted resonance peaks and overlapping frequencies. The overall effect is better coherence among the drivers with a major reduction of sibilance.

Finally, the FH15 comes with a 152-wire silver-plated monocrystalline copper cable featuring 8 strands of Litz-braided wire. The Litz braiding specifically reduces the skin and proximity effects, leading to reduced eddy current losses and thus improved high-frequency resolution.
