FiiO released a lot of portable devices capable of playing back music for the general public or for starry-eyed audiophiles, they even shown efforts for the wireless aficionados and released few products as well. At FiiO Spring Festival 2019 was shown a product what was positioned as a marriage between the best wireless sender/receiver and a portable audio player. I know personally some folks that adore their FiiO BTR3 but would kill to have a same kind of device but with an added player functionality. I’m glad FiiO pleased the crowd and decided to work on and release the tiny do-it-all M5. As a product placement, FiiO put it into the player category, looking at it myself it is much more than that, it fits in the BTR Bluetooth-enabled devices as well, hell, it even has a voice recorder function, a pedometer and can be used as a rudimentary smart-watch.

Disclaimer : The FiiO M6 was sent to us free of charge in exchange for our honest review. We thank FiiO for that! For me newest addition to the M series of DAPs from FiiO came as a surprise. I just didn’t see it coming and no one knew about the M6 development. A bigger surprise came after I realized that it is positioned lower and cheaper than M7 but it is more advanced in terms of feature set and even in the sound department. I mean, how could you do a cheaper alternative that sounds better and has overall more features? It is almost impossible!

FiiO redesigned their entire line of portable DAPs and M7 is first from this newborn series. At first inspection I realized that M7 is completely different from other DAPs rooted in X series of portable players, it’s surely a product destined and carefully mastered not only for audiophiles but for simple users as well. Due to newest Bluetooth technologies such as Aptx-HD and ultra-performing LDAC codec, incorporation of a FM Radio receptor and of a much simpler to use Android 7 OS, M7 becomes an interesting device for anybody that has a minimal interest in sound quality. All the changes went into the right direction and I predict it will be a successful portable DAP.
