The Apos Team

Kunal

I am Kunal, and I am the CEO and co-founder of Apos.

One of the first companies I joined out of university was Massdrop, where I not only met amazing people and made close friends, but also learned a lot about the power of community. This aspect of a pure community still is ingrained in us and we feel it is even more important in our times now.

I’ve had my hands in several things over the years including marketing for some key audiophile launches like the Sennheiser HD6XX. I was one of the team members who launched the first keycap group buys on Massdrop, and worked on projects like the WhiteFox Mechanical Keyboard. Working with major keycap designers and the internal team, I worked on standardizing the process of designing, group buying, and manufacturing new keycap sets. My recent projects include Stack Overflow The Key and The Key 2 Macropads, WhiteFox Eclipse Mechanical Keyboard, ErgoDox “Hot Dox '' V2, and the Apos Caspian Headphones.

I am sure I am forgetting things due to my alcoholic’s memory, but I think the key contribution that I am the most proud of is the fostering of the Mech Keys community during the time when I was heavily involved in it. It was a time when we heard what the community had to say about a product they wanted to see, we heard what the manufacturers had to say and we introduced new ideas to the community, but most importantly I made friends - these friends are still there and I still talk to them to this day. We started sitting around this firepit of “a passion called Mechanical Keyboards” and ended by walking through life as friends. If I can achieve something similar at Apos, I’ll be a happy man.

What do I do at Apos?

I think I am a jack of all trades and I work with the amazing team here at Apos, to facilitate their brilliant ideas. Overall, my chief goal is to make sure that we are sticking to the ethos of our community and building everything we can that helps propagate this ethos. I realize that this might be a wordy way to say that I am “doing nothing”, and in essence I am on the sidelines. However, I do jump here and there with some ideas and also products that work towards the goal of propagating the ethos of our community.

What are my Passions?

I am not much of a product guy, although with my history in Mechanical Keyboards, I’ve become somewhat addicted to these amazing products.

I’d say my passion is the community around me, as corny as it sounds, but you will believe this about me when you get to meet me. I like nostalgia and I cherish gifts - in fact I have a watch collection made up of watches that friends or family have gifted me. More recently, I took notice of my apartment and I realized that most of it has been made of totems (including my bed and furniture) that have been handed down to me by friends of mine over time.

I love films - I worked in Hollywood for a hot sec - and I can still hold a pretty good conversation about films :). I love watches. I love scotch and more recently I am trying my “mouth” at pipe smoking.

Tom

Yo! I’m Tom, Creative Head at Apos. In theory, being “Creative Head” means that I get to make executive creative decisions that affect the company at the highest levels. In practice, it means people draw creative things on my head when I pass out at parties. I began my writing career over a decade ago, and since then I’ve written everything from blog posts and copy to news articles and product narratives for various businesses and publications. As an audiophile, I’m a sucker for the warm, deep salaciousness that only an R2R DAC paired with an OTL tube amp and a set of Sennheisers can produce. The first time I heard Radiohead on the setup I just described changed/ruined my life, and I’ve been chasing that feeling since. Besides audio, I’m an enthusiast of various other wallet-draining hobbies like photography, TTRPGs, pens, mech keys, video games, movies, playing music, smart home tech, etc. etc. I live with my wife and pets in an old house that predates the sinking of the Titanic.

Sean

Hey, Sean here!

I’m a product designer and ecommerce manager here at Apos.

I come from a background in mechanical keyboards, originally getting into them in 2011 with a Das Keyboard and working on a ton of projects in the keyboard community over the years.

I’ve had a vast amount of interests and hobbies, if it’s something nerdy I’ve probably been into it. You’ll find me listening to jazz fusion, progressive metal, drum & bass, R&B, playing competitive PC games, simulation/strategy games, tabletop roleplaying, and drinking Coke Zero.

Current Hardware:

  • Headphones: Sony WH-1000XM5
  • Mic: Samson Q2U
  • Recording interface: Focusrite 2i2
  • Mouse: Logitech G502 X
  • Keyboard: WhiteFox Eclipse High Profile

John

Hello! I'm John, the Marketing Manager at Apos. I'm the guy who talks to reviewers, influencers, writers, publishers, etc., who test and review the products on our site. I love learning about techie stuff and sharing ideas and funny experiences with the people I talk to. I am what one would call a regular audiophile who'd rather use audio gear to listen to music instead of using music to listen to audio gear. I’d like to think that is why I've developed good relationships with the people I've corresponded with since day one. Listening to their feedback and positively exchanging views while being genuinely honest is quite effective. Aside from listening to music and watching movies, taking long walks with my dogs and kids are my two other favorite things to do.

Peter

Hey guys, my name is Peter and I'm the Community Support Lead here at Apos. If you've got a question, I might will have an answer! But no, seriously, I'll do whatever is necessary to make your inquiries as seamless as possible. If you need help with anything, whether it's an order issue, technical question or product recommendation, I've got you covered. I'm a bit of a keyboard enthusiast and have built many boards in my day. As I get older, I really appreciate the full size/1800 layouts with numpads. When I'm not supporting customers I enjoy weightlifting, playing video games, antiquing and woodworking.

Steven

Hey, I'm Steven. I work mostly behind the scenes and am a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy, supporting my colleagues in various ways. Firstly, I am currently the main person to go to for daily internal operations here at Apos, ensuring all customer orders, cancellations, returns, and claims are handled. I also manage communications with our partners, making sure you always get updates on your orders regarding discounts, delays, out-of-stock products, or freebies with the different brands Apos has partnered with. Additionally, I support our finance head in various financial aspects, such as ensuring you get the lowest possible price a product can be sold at, especially during brand sales.
What I love here at Apos is helping my colleagues solve problems/issues, which expands my problem-solving skills. Outside of Apos, I spend almost all my time gaming. I'm a huge fan of games like Crusader Kings, Stellaris, X4, Total War: Warhammer, XCOM, Rimworld, Kenshi, and thousands more.
